Now you might be wondering who I am behind the chair of Luminous AutoTint—who's really standing behind the film, the tools, the steady hands.

My name is Ekin Thao.

And my journey into window tinting didn’t begin with a business plan or a dream of profit. It began with a story—his story.

I was about 16 years old when I first heard about window tinting; I'm 21 now. Not from YouTube. Not from social media. But from the one man who shaped my life—my stepfather. Though honestly, I’ve never truly called him my “step.” There was nothing halfway about the way he showed up for me. He raised me, guided me, and stood beside me through every stage of growing up. To me, he’s just Dad.

When he was in his late 20s, still in college, window tinting was more than just a side interest to him—it was a dream. His eyes would light up when he talked about it. He would tell me how he wanted to tint cars for people, build a name for himself, and turn that craft into a real business. You could hear the ambition in his voice—the hunger to create something of his own.

But life doesn’t always wait for dreams to grow.

When my younger brother was born, everything changed. With a family of four to support, risk became responsibility. Dreams had to step aside for stability. The vision he once carried so boldly became something he tucked away—not because he stopped believing in it, but because he loved his family more than the gamble.

Still, he would tell me stories. Stories about tinting his own car in a friend’s garage. About the smell of the film, the focus it required, and the satisfaction of seeing the final result. Even though he never built the business he imagined, the passion never left him. And when he spoke about it, something in me sparked.

I didn’t just hear a story.

I heard unfinished dreams.

That’s when I knew—I wanted to become a tinter. Not just for myself, but for him. I wanted to take the dream he once carried and bring it to life. I wanted to prove that what he once envisioned wasn’t impossible. That it just needed the right moment—and maybe the next generation.

Luminous AutoTint isn’t just a business to me. It’s a continuation of a legacy that almost was. It’s every late night learning the craft. Every mistake turned into mastery. Every car I tint is more than a service—it's a tribute.

Because at the end of the day, I’m not just building my dream.

I’m finishing his.

And if I can make him proud—if he sees in me the dream he once had—then every sacrifice, every risk, and every hour behind that chair is worth it.
